The Problem with Fairy Tales
& Christmas Magic
Have you ever done that in your own life?
That barely noticed theme, that shows up in many of our most beloved books and movies, will be our guiding theme & story this month, here at the blog. The reason that happens in entertaining stories and in our own lives, is painful stories from the past that just won't let go. Or not without a fight.
Healing the Past
I think there's a quote about the past that says it's "too much with us!" I can't remember where it comes from, but it's so true.
The past is with us when we wake up each morning, when we go to sleep. It goes with us to work, and comes right back home with us. It's there when we learn about a great opportunity and then, talk ourselves out of it. It's whispering in the background when we notice the person who is all wrong for us, and miss the person with whom we'd have been happy.
The past scares us half to death with warnings & prohibitions meant to make sure it doesn't repeat itself, and then, after all that effort at pushing against the door, it forces its way in and repeats itself, anyway.
So what do we do? How can we make the fairy tale come true in spite of our past?
I have found that there's no choice but to heal it. Avoiding it doesn't work!
A Focus on Healing
So whether it's end-of-the-day past, the yesterday past, last week, last month, last year or 20 years ago, it can get in our way going forward. Let's fix it!
What are the stories from your past that are getting in your way? Are they what's blocking you from becoming the person you are being called to become?
Here's a letting go ritual that will help you say a final goodbye to those old stories.
